Spiced apple cider is a fall staple to some people. For me, apple cider is a relatively new thing, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to try to put a little twist on it by adding a little tea and a little good bit of rum!
For Thanksgiving, I made a big ‘ole batch of it for our lunch guests. Everyone loved it, especially the older crowd. My grandpa said he used to drink apple cider on his trips to the mountains, and my grandma (who has a very hard time remembering much of anything) enjoyed a glass reminiscing about her time in Gatlinburg, TN so many years ago.
How to Make Apple Cider Tea Cocktails:
- Hibiscus Mint Tea (or any floral tea)
- Hot Water
- Spiced Apple Cider (About 1 Gallon)
- Cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- Captain Morgan’s spiced rum (optional)
This fall cocktail starts with some Hibiscus Mint tea. I got mine at Whole Foods, but I’d love to try it with any Floral tea, as long as the floral flavor isn’t overpowering. I brewed three tea bags with two full tea kettles of water. Brewing hot tea MUST be done with hot water, right? It’s not quite the same with a cold steep…but I digress.
I left the tea out on the counter overnight so it could cool completely. Then I took a jug of apple cider and mixed the two into a serving pitcher. Add a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg to the jug and the drink is perfectly ready for the non-boozy crowd. But add one part Captain Morgan’s spiced rum to three parts Cider and you’ve got a totally fall beverage that gives you a little warmth from the inside out!
This could be mixed up by adding slices of apple to the pitcher. Or maybe by adding Caramel vodka instead of spiced rum. There are so many different ways to make this awesome! How would you switch it up? Let me know in the comments below!
This sounds delicious! I will have to try it!
