Disney World food…it’s like a theme park attraction in itself!  Usually, we get the Disney Dining plan, but for our trip this time, we went sans Dining Plan for the very first time.  Normally, I’m so stuffed that I just can’t fit another thing.  But I planned out all the fun treats I wanted to try before I went to make sure I got to try all the good stuff!  I mean, let’s face it…dessert is where it’s at, am I right?  Here’s the top 5 making the list:

1. Hollywood Studios: Butterfinger Cupcake

This guy was pretty dense and delicious.  Soft chocolate cake with white cream filling made the cupcake good, but the chocolate layer frosting on top with crumbled Butterfinger pieces just brought it to another level.  We actually ate this for breakfast with coffee!  You can find this treat at the Trolley Stop Cafe located on the corner as you turn towards Tower of Terror.

2. Magic Kingdom: Character Candy Apples

These little beauties are so cute!  They carry a hefty price tag at $10.99 per apple, but they’re absolutely yummy.  In Magic Kingdom, they’re available at Big Top Treats in the new Storybook Circus park area as well as on Main Street in the Confectionary.  They will even cut it for you so that you don’t have to worry about any of the chocolate falling off.  Mmmmm!

3. Magic Kingdom: Citrus Swirl

When I was growing up, this was the only treat I looked forward to.  It’s an awesome blend of soft serve ice cream and frozen orange juice.  I’m not a creamsicle kind of gal, so I’m surprised that this tickles my tastebuds at all, but I have such fond memories of sitting around Adventureland and enjoying one of these.  For a little while, they got rid of the “original” formula (those were some sad days), but it’s back and better than ever!

4. Animal Kingdom: Pineapple Soft Serve with RUM

So I originally wanted to try this with Coconut Rum, which is one of the available options; however, they ran out of coconut rum when I got to the window.  Bummer!  So instead of pass up this treat altogether, I opted to add a shot of dark rum instead.   I know I would have preferred it with coconut rum because I’m not really a dark rum person, but it was still yummy and also dairy free!  This was a win/win for me.  We all know mama needs a little cocktail when in Disney with her kids.  And if you didn’t know it, just embrace it ya’ll.  I’m from New Orleans.

5. Hollywood Studios: Peanut Butter and Jelly Milkshake

This delicious treat can be found inside the 50s Prime Time Cafe, and while I’m normally not into peanut butter as my first sweet choice, this one is a MUST for me.  I tried it because it was weird, bottom line.  It tastes exactly like smooth peanut butter mixed with grape jelly but there’s no separation in this milkshake; it’s all blended together so you taste all the flavors at once.  It’s definitely enough for two to share, so grab a couple of spoons and watch out for brain freeze!  Bonus: on the meal plan, you can order this as your beverage and have another item for dessert, if you want!

Well that’s it!  My top treats to enjoy when I go to Disney World.  What are some of your favorite?  New things to try?  Let me know in the comments below!
