Well happy Friday, ya’ll!  It’s my first Friday Favorites post and my very first post of 2017!  I’ve taken a couple of weeks off for the holidays and also because we were all suffering with Thomas’s double ear infection.  For awhile there, I thought I was the one with ear infections…I mean, I really felt his pain.  That or I was seriously lacking sleep.  Or both.

What better way to launch into the new year than to link up with Andrea, Ericka, and Narci and sharing the things I’m crushing on this week.  I kind of feel like Andy Cohen, giving my version of the Mazel of the Week.  Weeee!

ONE.

As of today, it is OFFICIALLY King Cake season in New Orleans.  This means the start of “carnival” season, though we won’t see any of the bigger parades for a few weeks.  So while all of you had to take down Christmas decor and mourn its departure, I get to put out my Mardi Gras decorations!  I mean, I’m not bragging but daaaang it feels good to live in New Orleans.

There are quite a few places you can get a king cake ’round these parts, but Adrian’s Bakery is close to my house and theirs is delicious!  Randazzo‘s also makes a good one (and they ship..eeek!), or if you’re looking for a vegan king cake, head over to Breads on Oak.

Growing up, we had king cake every.single.Friday at school during king cake season (which ends with Mardi Gras at the end of February).  If you got the “baby,” you’d have to bring the king cake to school that next Friday.

Now that I’m an adult I continue the tradition.  Except, wait.  I’m buying (and eating) all the king cake.  Delicious but dangerous!

TWO.

Yoga.  All the yoga.  This was me back before I had my second little squishy baby.

This photo is my absolute favorite picture of me in my yoga-ness.  I don’t have many photos like this, and since I plan to get back into more yoga in 2017, I’m hoping to have many more like this.  Talk about motivation!  And if you’re ever in New Orleans, check out Life Yoga.  It’s such an amazing community of uplifting people, and I’ve learned SO much about meditation and yoga there.

THREE.

Amazon used books are the bees knees, people.  If you’re an avid reader, there’s nothing like the feeling of turning actual pages.  Ugh and the smell of a real book!  I know that’s weird.  But literally when I get a new book, I flip through the pages and then stick my nose right in there.  I think it’s because my mom would take us to the library as kids just to “hang out.”  I need to do that with my little ones too.

Anyhoo, I plan to read more books in 2017.  My goal for the year is 20 books, which shouldn’t be too hard since I read quickly.  It’s more about setting the time aside to read and making it a priority.  I just ordered The Magnolia Story (about Chip and Joanna Gaines…just give me all the shiplap, thanks) and two books by Emily Giffin that I haven’t read yet – The One and Only and Where We Belong.  I’m hoping to get those three read in January and get ahead of my 20 book goal!

Well that about does it for my Friday Favorites this week.  I’m going to go pump (yep, still breastfeeding) and then maybe catch a couple hours of sleep.  Hope you all have an amazing weekend!

Until next time, ya’ll!
